“He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.” – Job 8:21

My Story

As I look back at my life so far, I’m amazed at how God has used my family’s situation to draw me to Him.  I’ve been a Christian for as long as I can remember; I’ve always known Jesus as my Savior who paid the high price for my sin to save me from death.   So in that sense I am like a lot of other kids who grew up in a church.

But my life isn’t the typical church-kid story. When I was five years old, my dad left our Christian home.  I grew up watching my friends with their wonderful dads, wishing that my situation were different.  I wanted a dad who would take care of me, talk with me, and walk me down the aisle when I got married.  Mostly I just wanted a father who would be around to share my joys and my tears with me.

But slowly God has opened my eyes to the fact that HE is my father.  He is the only one big enough to totally fill the hole in my heart that was there for so long.  2 Corinthians 6:18 says “And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”  He is the savior of the world, yet he loves me as his special daughter.  He is with me each day.  He comforts me when I cry, He rejoices when I laugh.  I am His little girl and that is where I find my identity.  I live every day excited to learn even more about how His truth determines the course of  my life.

Purpose of The Blog

My hope for this blog is to encourage teen girls who have divorced parents.  Coming from this situation and being raised by a single mom, I have personally experienced the issues that come with this family arrangement.  Here I hope that you’ll find encouragement on problems that we face every day.

Why the Name?

I chose the name of this blog from Job 8:21 which says: “He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.”  In Christ, you can be ‘all filled up’ with God’s love and joy, no matter what your family’s situation is like. I am just one witness to God’s special love towards those who are hurt by the world.
