The Liebster Blog Award

I would like to thank Drusilla Mott over at her blog for nominating me for the Liebster Award. As I understand it, this award is given to recognize and encourage bloggers who have a following of 200 or less.

In order to receive the award, bloggers must follow five rules:

1. Thank your Liebster Blog Award presenter on your blog.

2. Link back to the blogger who awarded you.

3. Copy & Paste the award to your blog.

4. Nominate 5 blogs to receive the award.

5. Inform them of their nomination by leaving a comment on their blog.

I am so happy to have the opportunity to nominate five worthy bloggers for this award:

  1. Lauren Lee at Daughters of His Love. Lauren blogs to share what she has learned through some very difficult trials. Her posts encourage people to see God as their true father.
  2. Sherry Bridges at Spiritual Candy 4 Girls. Sherry has devoted time and effort into creating a blogging ministry to encourage girls who deal with divorce and fatherlessness.
  3. Carrie of Carrie Anne Design. Carrie is an incredible graphic designer who blogs faithfully every day about graphic design, encouraging quotes, and God.
  4. Ellie at Ellie B Photography. Ellie is a wedding photographer who blogs about her photography business and her life.
  5. Anna at Christ Calling the Crazy Teens. Anna blogs to encourage Christian girls to live as Christ has called us to, and she posts lots of other fun things.

Take a minute and browse these wonderful blogs. =)

An Announcement…and A Call

I always knew I wanted to do something different for my last year in highschool. I finished taking all of my credits in my junior year so that my senior year could be left for interesting classes and career-related internships. Now my senior year is here, and I have been working on a really exciting project…

…I am writing a book!

My book is a devotional/bible study for teen girls with divorced parents. I am super excited about this. I just finished the complete outline last week! Each lesson is going to open with a story (one of my personal stories, an illustration, or the story of another teen girl who grew up in similar circumstances) and study an encouraging scripture passage. There will be space to journal your thoughts and interactive activities to help you grow in your faith.

And here’s where you come in. I am looking for teen girls that I can interview to write the opening stories from! If you are interested in telling me your story of fatherlessness, divorce, or anything similar, let me know by emailing me at allfilledup@gmail.com.  I am completely willing to change names or minor details if that would be a hindrance for you.

You could be in a book!

Introducing…

The Washington Project, started by Lauren Lee Fischer, is a teen initiative devoted to standing up to pop culture by really thinking about the ideas it feeds us.

I am going to be writing for this new site twice a month as a teen intern. My first post, titled Music to Our Ears? went on the site on Thursday!  Go check it out  =)

His Eyes

Hello friends!

Sorry for the unexpected break in posts — my laptop that I use to write them got a computer virus, and a friend is looking at it to see if he can get rid of it without erasing all my files (just goes to show that you really should get anti-virus softeware…).  So meanwhile here’s a poem that I wrote the old fashioned way — notebook paper. Shocker I know 😉

As I first step into that place

Where sorrow is no more

My Father runs to greet me

At the Glory Door

His eyes are bright and ancient

They know me to the core

Yet even though He knows my faults

His love is firm and pure

Suddenly I notice

His broken hands and feet

How could he have suffered

Just to be with me?

In his eyes I see deep pain

Like the hardest loss

Surely I would never know

The anguish of the cross

But my heart skips as the truth

Slowly fills my mind

The tears that issue from his eyes

Are for the pain that’s mine

“Dear child,” he says in gentle tones

His compassion overflowing

“I felt every moment of your pain,

Even wounds not showing.

“I saw when others hurt you,

When words and actions stung

When you were burdened and alone

That is why I hung.

“But free your heart, my daughter

For it will never be again.

From now on and forever

You will live in Heaven.”

His touch heals all my bruises

He lifts and holds me tight

And somehow gentle arms

Make everything alright
